Freedom to 92 revolutionary people in Türkiye

Climáximo stands in complete solidarity with the 92 people who were arbitrarily detained in Türkiye in the early hours of 29 April 2025, in the context of preparations for the International Workers’ Day mobilisation. The multiple attempts at increasing repression against people fighting for a dignified life are a demonstration of the war that governments and companies have declared on people and the planet.

We share the statement issued by various organisations and invite workers’ movements around the world to claim the May Day mobilisations as a day of dignity and struggle that no authoritarian government can take away from us.

Release the detained revolutionaries!

Before May Day, the day of unity and struggle of workers, laborers and all oppressed, the fascist regime carried out yet another detention attacks by house raids early in the morning. 92 revolutionary socialists, students, ecologists, trade-unionists are detained so far.

This detention attack is clearly aimed at preventing the workers’ and laborers’ search for equality, justice and freedom and the will for liberating Taksim Square, where many political groups have declared to march on May 1st. Since 1977, when 34 workers were killed on May Day at this square by the state and counter-guerrilla apparatus, Taksim symbolizes the working class struggle and are banned by the state for any kind of demonstration seeking justice.

The demands and longings of people are tried to be prevented in this way. Since this March 19th, the anger of all oppressed sections filled the streets for their rights, including the right to vote after the detention Istanbul mayor.

And on the same days, the state dismantle local authorities by new arrests and start construction work of new luxury housing around the so-called Canal Istanbul project. This is an ecocidal project affecting not only Thrace region, but also the whole Black Sea and Anatolia, destroying the ancient protected forests and the ecosystem balance of sea currents between Black Sea And the Sea of Marmara.

It is clear that the revolutionaries, who declared with a united will to be at Taksim Square on May 1st, reminded the fascist chiefdom regime of its fearful dream, the Gezi uprising. But in vain, this united revolutionary will will surely bring fascism to its knees!

Detentions and police raids cannot break the will for Taksim!
May 1st is Taksim!
Release ecologist Cemil Aksu, Cemre Nayir and all detainees!
